Monday, 14/7/08 - Day 11

Before I start off this entry the weather is terrible in Austria. It rains and rains and rains then the temperature drops about 20 degrees in two minutes.

Today we rose from our slumber to the sound of Geoff banging on our doors.. the majority of us dawdled to breakfast in our pyjamas.
After breakfast we walked back to our rooms to pack our bags and went to the Inns River. In flood, the water was up about 1 metre from our paddle on Saturday. The waves were great to surf. Joey takes the cake for surf of the day.

After we finished paddling the river, we waited in the cold for half an hour until Geoff came to pick us up. Once he arrived, we put the boats on the jumpy and we headed off to the hotel. Ate our lunch and then we found out we were going canyoning. Canyoning involved abseiling down walls, jumping off cliffs into water, sliding down rocks and climbing along rocks.
After canyoning we went in the sauna at our accommodation and did a recovery session. As we were sitting in the sauna, some other Austrians came up and were going to join us… they dropped their towels and we got a full frontal of the local specimen. It was not a good sight.

The sauna was really good despite our encounter with nudists. We walked back to the rooms, got changed, went to dinner and at dinner we had Weiner Schnitzel and chips - a specialty of the area. For desert we had pancakes. Let's just say they were DELICIOUS.

After devouring our DELICIOUS pancakes we walked down to Oetz slalom course, where we spent about an hour taking down the gates we set earlier in the week.
Once we had dismantled the gates, we walked back to the accommodation and packed our bags for the journey to Prague tomorrow morning.
Let's just hope the weather is better tonight, as it was freezing last night. So cold, it snowed on the top of the mountains.

An update on everyone:
Ethan: has a lump on his head still looks good in his new boat
Tash: Tash is still paddling really well and is still called tank
Antra: Is still known as monkey
Ben: Has a really nice hair cut going in to a rattie.
Josh: Quiet but lets the laughs still coming.
Joey: Still has his hideous hair cut and didn't win the beat by not talking for 24 hours.
Ash: well Good quiet.

So yeah we are all good and we are off to bed for a long ride for tomorrow
Thanks, Ash
