Sunday, 13/7/08 - Day 10

Today we started with a session on the Oetz slalom course. It was very very big and a little bit scary. The water was bloody freezing and we were told by one of the raft guides that if you swam without a full wetsuit on, you wouldn't last 20 seconds before getting hypothermia and freezing up. With that in mind, we continued to do runs on a six gate course, only getting a couple of gates a run.

After Ashley missing the get out eddy, and the only eddy for quite a while, we sprinted down the side of the course to ease our guilty conscience in case she drowned. We then decided to call it a day on that section of the river.

After getting the feeling back in our fingers and toes we did video review of the kinetics session yesterday and the fruitless attempts of getting the gates this morning.

We went to our training lake in the mountains to keep up our fitness with a lactic/resistance session, despite great protests by Ben. While we were warming up, Ethan baptized his new C1 by swimming after three attempts to hand roll (one attempt with Josh sitting on top of him).

Pizza for dinner ended with a 25 euro bet by the team that Joey couldn't go 24 hours without talking. The silence has started, we will report the results in tomorrows update.

We made nicknames for a few people. Ethan is Anton, the mayor of Augsburg who has a dirty mow, and Antra is Monkey...because hmm unsure....

We are expecting snow overnight. It is predicted to snow at 1200m above sea level and we are at 800m, so we should be able to see it on the mountains surrounding us, and it will probably be bloody cold.

By Josh and Ben.
