Wednesday the 18th started with
an early morning whitewater session on Troja,
Prague. As we dragged ourselves to the water's
edge at six in the morning, we passed Zlatan
on his way back from a one hour run
Machine!
First breakfast at the boathouse wasn't enough
for some people so we followed up with pancakes,
blueberries and Nutella. mmmmmmmm
Only an hour later than we had intended, we
set off for Augsburg, nearly leaving Ros's
boat behind, but no big deal. The team divided
into two groups for the journey, one smelly
(Jono and Ben), the other not.
At the Czech/German border, Gage realized
he hadn't retrieved his passport from his
bag. We stopped in an innocent-looking, unused
lane on the highway, a few metres from the
border and Sam decided to take a pee in the
bushes. The border patrol weren't too pleased
with this. Ordering Sam and Geoff out of the
driver's seats, a policeman let rip:
'Are you crazy? I don't know how it is in
Australia but here we do not stop in ze middle
of ze highway and urinate in ze bushes!'
After threatening to fine us Geoff and Sam's
profuse apologies seemed to do the trick,
and we were let loose into Germany.
We arrived in Augsburg in time for a play
session on the second canal, not quite as
exciting as the Eiskanal, but just enough
to whet our appetites. Speaking of appetites,
for dinner we all sated ours at Joe Pena's
Mexican restaurant (pronounced Yo Penis).
Delicious and nutritious fajitas all round
resulted in the whole team having Preg-bellies.
First prize in the eating competition went
to Scott Guinea. Onya mate.
A special mention goes to Billy the Blow up
Kangaroo, who managed to survive most of the
drive on the Autobahn taped to the roof of
the van.
Cheers for now !!!!!
