Team Manager
Well today was our last day in Augsburg. An
early morning start so that we could pack
the vans before the morning technic session
at the Eiskanal. A number of the team elected
to take this as a rest day before we head
into the business end of the tour in the week
leading up the Junior Pre-worlds competition.
The session on the eiskanal
was from 9 -10 and we virtually had the course
to ourselves once again. This has been a great
couple of days experience on one of the best
courses in the world. This was the site of
the 1972 Olympic Games Slalom event.
As the kids paddled I slipped
down to the Internet Café to load the
previous day's diary and photos
by the
time I got back we were ready for the road.
A short four hour drive to Roudnice, well
actually to Litomerice, which is 20 km north
of Roudnice.
We had a great lunch on the
road, no not road kill, we stopped on the
side of the road for our routine lunch; bread
rolls, salad, meats, cheese, yoghurt; fruit
and drinks.
We arrived at Litomerice at
about 4pm, great little town on the river
Elbe, a historical town, more on this latter
in the week. We settled into our accommodation
for the next week, we nearly have taken over
the whole hotel. The manager has kindly allocated
a lounge room on the bottom floor to the team
so that we can leave all our eskys and food
stuff in a secure location. We also have access
to the kitchen if needed. On the recommendations
of the manageress we took off for dinner at
the Radnicni Slipek, we ended up three levels
underground for dinner, check out the photo
gallery for some pictures. We all had a great
meal and headed back to the Hotel Helena for
an early night.
Cheers for now --- Geoff
