Talis (the Patient) and Jono.
Today was yet another beautiful
day in Slovenia. We started it off with a
stretching session at 7am, breakfast at 7:30
and then a flat water speed session at a lake
on the way back into Nova Gorica, just outside
a village called Tolmin.
After the flat water session
most of the team went back to Bovec to enjoy
a swim and cuppa chinos. However Talis and
Tom went with Zlatan back down the valley
to Solkan to pick up there new boat, this
turned out to be a 2 hour goose chase to find
the Dutch team who had there brand new boat.
Talis did this while battling off an insect
bite that was spreading throughout his foot.
Geoff had the afternoon off and escaped from
the team, a quite drive in the country and
a chairlift ride up the mountain which turned
into an epic journey. It took 30 minutes in
the gondola to reach the top of the mountain
and the Bovec Ski slopes (no snow to speak
of, some minor patches)
When Talis arrived back to our accommodation
he was taken to the doctors by Geoff to have
his foot seen about as it seemed to be infected
and starting to streak up his foot. A short
visit to the Hospital in Tolmin and all was
under control, a soothing gel and a bandaged
foot, antibiotics and anti-inflammatories,
it should sort itself out by next weekend
for the competition (for his partner Tom's
sake).
Hopefully we will be moving
back to Solkan tomorrow, a day early as the
water is low in the Soca River at Bovec, to
continue our lead up to the Junior World Championships.
