Monday 10/7/06 - Day 17

Team Manger

Last night the team had dinner with some of the parents at the Hotel Sabotin, they ate ale carte and we ate from a set menu, I thought they should have at least sampled the food that the team was eating. After dinner we ventured to the town square to watch the World Cup final and take in the entertainment provided. A curfew of 11:45 was set for the team. On our return to the DOM we found some of the other teams outside including the French and Italian Teams, little to say that it turned into a late night.

We moved from Solkan to Ljubljana today, and early start to organise all our gear and pack. We had to be in Ljubljana by 10am for the 10 -12 water session at Tacen, we made it but the water was a bit low. A lot of paddlers were on the water which made it a bit difficult.

After the session we moved into our accommodation for the next couple of days in university accommodation in the suburbs of Ljubljana, accommodation is clean and we have a common room for all our staff. Not quite up to the standard of the accommodation that we have had so far but it is a rof over our head. We are next to the train line and through the night when trains pass it sound like they are coming through the dorm. To say the least it is a bit noisy.

The team was given money today to buy their own lunch; they were let loose in the centre of Ljubljana for a couple of hours, the choices for lunch were varied, Macas, Mexican, Pizza etc.

Back to the course in the afternoon for a cross class training session on the flat water gates, a fun session in all.

We ate out in Ljubljana tonight, pizza was on the menu, we found a great little place in the back streets, wood oven pizza, dinner was great followed by ice creams on the river bank.

Good night from Slovenia…..
