It was another early start awaking
at 7am. Most of us had to deal with the fact
that tomorrow was race day however it was
only at 3pm when we were watching demonstration
runs that things really hit us. We have given
up having breakfast in the dinning room with
Geoff purchasing food stuffs for breakfasts
in the common room.
After breakfast we headed to the course to
do a half hour session at 9am, it was intense
due to the fact that we knew it was our last
shot on the course before our race. After
our session we returned to our accommodation
for lunch and video reviews. At 2:15 we piled
into the vans and headed down to the course
for demonstration runs. This was our first
opportunity to see the course and we discovered
that a good course with some tight stagers
and interesting gates. The C1 and K1 women
walked the course with the coaches after demo
runs. We returned home at about 4:30 for a
shower and to change into our team uniform
for the opening ceremony. Dinner was at the
Sabotin Hotel and was a merry affair with
all of our supporters from back home visiting.
After dinner we went to town hall for the
opening ceremony were we got to see the full
extent of the number of competitors. Upon
entering the arena with an announcement we
got an almighty cheer from all our supporters.
The ceremony was a short affair with the highlights
being cheerleaders and Johno and Phil M running
out onto the field with a host of other nations
for a spontaneous flag running. Once the ceremony
ended we returned home for demo reviews and
bed. Now we are all looking forward to racing.
Night from Slovenia.

From the Manager,
A number of the Aussie supports turned up
today, should be a big contingent of people
to support the Aussie as they do battle with
the Soca river.
Tomorrow sees the first day of competition
with the qualification runs for Womens K1
and Mens C1 in the morning, the first 40 boats
in each class will go through to the semi
finals to be held on Sunday morning. The afternoon
will see the teams event being held for both
K1 Women and C1, two runs for each team.
Check out the website, some great photos
from the opening ceremony.
Cheers
Geoff
